We are Stan & Dixie from rural Iowa. My husband is a retired farmer and I'm a retired farmer's wife living in our 100+ year old Iowa farm house. Since Stan's retirement, he has joined me in my interest in gardening and landscaping. (I suppose we can call him a lifetime gardener, since he did, in fact farm the land since he's been big enough to put on his own britches.) Now, that he's out of the fields and into the yard with me, we spend quite a bit of time planting trees, bushes and flowers together. One of our long-time hobbies has been searching out auctions, flea-markets and garage sales. I've been an antique collector our entire married life. I buy for myself and every once in awhile, I have to decide which finds I'll have to let go so I can make room for more. (You'll see Stan shaking his head when I call him to "meet me with the pickup".)
For several years, we've been debating rather to move into town or not and have begun to look at what we would need to let go of. We're interested to see what the internet can do for us. I hope to find new homes for my treasures as I go through our home pulling items from closets, trunks and drawers.
These are the types of old things I've collected over the years that are destined for Dustyhans or eBay.
He rejuvenated our old pump house a couple summers ago. This is the type of antiques Stan likes to add to our collection. He bought this windmill several years ago and is one of his favorites. Another hobby we've shared over our life together is crafting. I started making Christmas decor, Santa Claus' and painting on old furniture. Stan played around with wood-working making bird-houses, shelves and benches. We sold our crafts at town festivals for several years through the 90's until we got bored with hauling things to and from sales. We don't do that anymore, but once in awhile I get feeling crafty again and take a week here and there to take time to craft. You might find a couple of my handmade items on the auctions every once in awhile.
Stan put up 2 railroad crossing lights in our drive and had electricity ran to them so they light up and ding when company pulls in.
These are our grandsons helping out with house fixups.
