Skull & bone toting vulture.
I got such a kick out of making him. He's such a dreary looking character, that I have to grin every time I look at him. He is a delightful Halloween needful who will warm your heart despite his reputation.

Made with lots of my original touches to the eyes & eye-lids, head coloring, moss, grape vines, skull, beak sculpting and forehead crinkle, he sits as solid as a rock on his jumbo textile spool base.

He is made from muslin with a body that I've stuffed before attaching him to his spool. He is attached extremely secure with absolutely no wobbling.
His wings are made separately and hand-stitched to his body.
His body and wings are painted black and sanded.

I paint the back half of his head watermelon red, and ecru in the front half. His beak is Pumpkin-orange.
His head has lots of hand-sculpting & hand-stitching in his forehead, beak and eyelids.

His eyelids are washed in melon-red and ecru and are stitched into place. I embroider his eyes in black and white thread.
I add a little hand-stitched scrunch to his forehead for a little personality.

I thinned out my wild grapevine to use on this guy. I wrapped them around his neck and his base while they were fresh off the vine. I've impatiently waited a week for them to dry completely hard. He has a bundle of straight vines attached to his base to make him appear to be lurking in a tree. It's attached with rusty wire.
I also attach a bunch of moss to his base using rusty wire.
Every part of him is securely machine or hand-stitched or attached with wire... No Glue is used.

He's toting a skull and bone around his neck that is attached with wire.

The skull is made from one of my e-patterns.
He's made from muslin, painted grungy ecru, stained and rubbed with cinnamon. His forehead, eyebrows and smile are hand-stitched using heavy thread. His nose is embroidered in black. His eyes are embroidered in ecru with black pupils.
His bone is also muslin, painted grungy ecru.

He is heavily stained and rubbed & sprinkled with lots of cinnamon!

I just adore him!
